New Era, New Horizons, New Possibilities

The President and the Members of the Board of Directors of the Famagusta Dental Association are proud to announce the 1st International Congress in Periodontology and Implantology that will take place at Parklane Resort & Spa in Limassol, Cyprus, between the 12-14 of October 2023, with the participation of 15 Speakers from 10 different countries from all around the World.

The Congress will be held 

under the high patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr. Nicos Christodoulides and

under the auspices of the honourable Minister of Health Dr. Popis Kanaris.

During the Congress, the attendants will have the opportunity to listen to some of the greatest Scientists of our time, such as Prof. Andrea Mombelli from Switzerland, Prof. Ziv Mazor from Israel and many others and be able to enrich their knowledge with information and techniques based on the latest dental researches and articles from all over the world.

15 International Speakers, 14 Hours of Lectures, 7 Hands-on Classes/Workshops from 5 different Companies are only the academic benefits of the Congress.

We truly are committed in showing our hospitality first hand.

Everyone who registers will get continuous updates on the Congress Events, as well as will have the opportunity to participate on the after events, such as dinners, the Sunday Excursion etc.

Starting on Thursday the 12th of October at 6 p.m. with the Opening Ceremony, followed by the Inauguration of the Companies Exhibition and continuing with 2 whole Academic Days, accompanied by full day Workshops on both days as well as parallel Workshops on the 13th of October, including an arrival coffee, 2 “Parklane Signature Coffee Breaks” and one “Parklane Standing Lunch Break” per Academic Day, with the compliments of the Famagusta Dental Association.

    Dr. Yuval Zubery

    Received his D.M.D. degree in 1984 and his specialty certificate in
    Periodontics in 1988 from the Dental School of the Hebrew University in
    Jerusalem. Lecturer in the Section of Periodontics, School of Dental
    Medicine, Tel-Aviv University from 1988-1995. Visiting Assistant
    Professor in the Department of Periodontics, University of Texas, Health
    Science Center in San Antonio, Texas U.S.A. in 1991-1992. Since 1995-
    Private Practice limited to Periodontics and dental implants.
    Previously,CMO and co-owner of Datum Dental Ltd. Author of over 35
    publications. Speaker on periodontics, regeneration and dental
    implantology.

  • Prof. Ziv Mazor
    Prof. Ziv Mazor

    Prof. Ziv Mazor is one of Israel’s leading periodontists. He graduated from the periodontal department at the Hadassah School for Dental Medicine in Jerusalem.
    Since 1993, Prof. Mazor has been engaged in clinical research in the field of Bone Augmentation and Sinus Floor Elevation. He is currently participating in the quest for improving and evaluating new grafting materials, using various growth factors as well as researching “osseodensification”- a paradigm shift in dental implantology.
    Prof. Mazor is a renowned author in dental implantology, and is known worldwide for his innovative approaches in cutting-edge procedures and technologies. He is a world known speaker and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. Last year was his 25th consecutive year speaking at the AAP.
    Prof. Mazor is part of the continuing education faculty at the New York University. He conducts and moderates advanced international implantology courses and workshops. He is the past President of the Israeli Periodontal Society.
    Prof. Mazor maintains a private practice and a teaching center limited to periodontal and implant dentistry in Tel Aviv, Israel.

  • Prof. Takanori Suzuki
    Prof. Takanori Suzuki

    Dr. Takanori Suzuki was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Nippon Dental University College of Life Dentistry in Japan and received his Bachelor of DDS in 2000. In 2004, Dr. Suzuki obtained his Doctorate of Operative Dentistry also at Nippon Dental University. He then taught at the Nippon Dental University in the Department of Operative Dentistry as an Assistant Professor from 2004 to 2008.
    In 2009, Dr. Suzuki moved to New York City to complete a one-year Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. Soon thereafter, he completed a two-year Advanced Program for International Dentists in Implant Dentistry. In 2012, he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Implant dentistry also at New York University College of Dentistry.
    After his Fellowship program, he became as a Visiting Clinical Instructor in 2012 then Clinical Assistant Professor in 2013 to present.
    He moved to Tokyo in 2019 then he founded a company and working as implantologist.
    Dr. Suzuki has published more than 20 scientific articles in the IJPRD, Implant Dentistry and Compendium. He is an international lecturer at many meetings in various countries. He is currently part-time faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University College of Dentistry, Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.

  • Prof. Maria Elisa Galarraga
    Prof. Maria Elisa Galarraga

    Professor Maria Elisa Galarraga Vinueza, DDS, MSc and PhD in oral surgery and implant dentistry, is full-time assistant professor at the Department of Prosthodontics, division of implant dentistry, at Tufts University, Boston-USA. She is a visitor researcher at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany and at Universidad de las Americas, Quito, Ecuador. Dr. Galarraga was recipient of the Osteology Foundation scholarship in 2019 and performed one year of research in the Oral Surgery Department of Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Galarraga has been awarded several international awards. She is currently a member of the research committee of the Iberoamerican Federation of Periodontology, she has been appointed to be member of the research expert council of  Osteology Foundation, and she is currenlty part of the Best Evidence Consensus in the treatment of peri-implantitis by the American Academy of Periodontology and IADR.
    Dr. Galarraga’s main fields of research are biomaterials development and peri-implantitis histopathology, etiology and treatment. Dr. Galarraga is an international lecturer and has published numerous scholarly publications in the main international peer-reviewed journals. She has also co-authored several book chapters related to peri-implantitis treatment. 

  • Prof. Marco Tallarico
    Prof. Marco Tallarico

    Assistant Professor in Fixed and Removable Prostheses on natural teeth and implants, and Gnathology, University of Sassari, Italy.

    Graduated with honors at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2000, he obtained the II Level Master in Oral Surgery in 2003, and the Master of Science in Oral Surgery in 2005 at the same University. He attended advanced course in Periodontology and Implantology at the University of Florence in the years 2006 and 2007. In 2013 he obtained the certification of the European Association of Osseointegration in “Implant-Based Therapy”, first Italian clinician, together with Prof. Silvio Mario Meloni. In 2014 he was the winner, for the second time, of the Prosthesis Poster Session, Nobel Biocare Symposium, Riccione, and in 2019 he won the Aesculapius Research Prize awarded by the University of Florence. Past lecturer at the Oral Rehabilitation Department of the II University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, directed by Prof. Alberto Barlattani and at the Oral Surgery Department of the Marche Polytechnic, directed by Prof. Fabrizio Bambini. From 2019 to 2022 he was adjunctive professor of prostheses, and in February 2022 he won the competition named “RTDB or lecture B” as University Researcher, at the University of Sassari. Already Adjunct Professor at Aldent University, Tirana, Albania (Implantology and Prosthetic Aspects, Master of Science in Dentistry Program). President Osstem-AIC (Advanced Dental Implant Research & Education Center), Italy. Active member of the IAO (Italian Academy of Osseointegration), of the DDS (Digital Dental Society), of the EAO (European Association for Osseointegration), and of the AIOM (Italian Academy of Microscopic Dentistry). International speaker on topics related to implant surgery. Author of several national and international publications with high impact factor. He has participated both as principal investigator and coordinator in several researches in Implantology. He works as a freelancer in Rome, limited to implant surgery and prosthesis.

  • Prof. José Luis Calvo
    Prof. José Luis Calvo

    Prof. José Luis Calvo-Guirado graduated with honors ate the University of Córdoba, Argentine
    in 1989, he obtained his first PhD in Dentistry 2001 and his second European PhD in
    Bioengineering of Biomaterials 2014. He was Full-Professor Oral Surgery, and Implant
    Dentistry at the University of Murcia, Spain from 2007-2015. Scientific Award 2021. Associate
    Researcher of Universidad Autónoma de Chile, Volunteer Research Professor at School of
    Dental Medicine at Stony Brook University in New York, Visiting Professor of Oral Surgery,
    and Implant Dentistry at Belgrade University in Serbia, visiting professor of Implant Dentistry
    Specialization at Catholic University of Córdoba Argentine and Visiting Professor of Tito
    Maiorescu of Bucarest, Rumania.
    His recognized international expertise based in Oral Surgery, Dental Implants, Bone Substitutes,
    Animal Research and Digital Technologies. Author of more than 292 publications in PubMed
    publications in Dental, Medical and Biomaterials journals as well former member of the editorial
    board of Clinical Oral Implants Research and reviewer of the following international Journals
    Clin Implant Dent Related Res, J Periodontol, Tissue Engineering, Acta Odontologica
    Scandinavica and Materials, Metals, J Clin Medicine, Symmetry and more Scientific Journals of
    MDPI Editorial. Author of another 350 manuscripts in non-JCR Journals. He is an author of 7
    Books and Co-authors of other 8 scientific books. He is a reviewer of 54 JCR and non-JCR
    Journals. Prof. Calvo Guirado in the position 31st Worldwide in Dental Implantation Ranking in
    the Expertscape Web Ranking, also in position 10 th in Bone Implant Interface Ranking in the

  • Prof. Ioannis Fourmousis
    Prof. Ioannis Fourmousis

    Assistant Professor of Periodontology
    University of Athens, Greece

    Ioannis Fourmousis graduated from the Dental School of the University of Athens in 1987. In 1990, he started the Master’s program in Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Implantology at the University of Bern in Switzerland.
    In 1993 he finished the postgraduate program and at the same time was declared a Doctor of the University of Bern, where he taught until 1994. From 1994 to 1996, he remained an Assistant Visiting Professor in the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics of the same University. From 1996 until 1998 he was promoted to Associate Visiting Professor.
    From 1994 to 2001 he was a scientific associate of the Periodontology laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he also held the position of Lecturer in 2001. In 2007 he was appointed Assistant Professor and from 2011 until today he serves with the rank of permanent Assistant Professor of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry.
    From June 1998 until 2000 he was elected member of the board of the Diagnostic Group of the IADR (International Association of Dental Research). From 2001 until 2004 he was a member of the journal “Clinical Oral Implants Research” editorial board.
    Since 1994, he maintains a private practice with an emphasis on Periodontology and Implants.
    From 1992 until today he has presented more than 250 papers in international and national conferences. He has published 138 papers in Greek and foreign language magazines and books with a high Citation index (>3000 citations).

  • Prof. Andrea Mombelli
    Prof. Andrea Mombelli

    Prof.em. (University of Geneva), Prof.tit. (University of Bern), Prof.hon. (University of Buenos Aires)

    Andrea Mombelli graduated from the University of Bern School of Dental Medicine and completed his post-graduate studies reaching the status of Private Docent in 1992. He has a Swiss Federal diploma in dentistry (D.D.S.), a Doctorate in dentistry (Dr. med. dent.) and is a Swiss board-certified periodontist.

    Andrea Mombelli was professor and director of the Division of Periodontology at the Clinic of Dental Medicine of the University of Geneva, Switzerland (1999-2019). From 2001 to 2005 he served as president of the Dental Section of the Faculty of Medicine, and from 2005 to 2011 he was associate vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Earlier he held the position of Head of the Laboratory for Oral Microbiology at the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Bern, Switzerland (1992-1999). He is former president of the Swiss Society of Periodontology (1992-1996 and 2004-2008).

    He and his colleagues have been pioneers in studies on the diagnosis, etiology and therapy of peri-implantitis. He has conducted multiple clinical trials evaluating antimicrobial protocols to optimize the treatment of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.

    Dr. Mombelli has received several awards and honorary memberships of various societies of periodontology and implantology. In 2019 he received the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award for Research in Periodontal Disease and in 2020 the Distinguished Scientist Award of the EFP.

  • Dr. Zoe Nicolaou
    Dr. Zoe Nicolaou

    Dr. Zoe Nicolaou is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial
    Surgery in Rabin Medical Center of Tel-Aviv University- Israel and she received the title of Oral
    and Maxillofacial Surgeon in 2000. Dr. Nicolaou joined the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic
    in Athens as a Postgraduate Fellow for 2 years after graduating from the Dental School of Athens
    University in 1992.
    Her special interest is in Orthognathic Surgeries and Individuals with cranio facial syndromes and
    facial deformities. She has been practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Limassol, Cyprus
    since 2000. This is why she cooperates with the Cyprus Center for Clefts & Facial Deformities
    (MEDICLEFT), where a team of specialists monitor and treat patients with similar problems.
    Furthermore, she serves as councilor of the Republic of Cyprus at the International Association of
    Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) and she is an active member of the European
    Association of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS).

  • Dr. Alex Dagba
    Dr. Alex Dagba

    Dr. Alex Dagba graduated from Paris V University, René Descartes, and obtained his
    dental degree (DDS) in 2009. He now practices in Paris, in the 9th and 16th
    arrondissements.
    His activity is oriented in Implantology and Periodontology. The work philosophy he
    promotes emphasizes minimally invasive approaches.
    In addition to his clinical activity, he devotes part of his time on writing publications,
    and teaching as part of various University Diplomas (Université Paris XI, Université
    Evry)
    Since 2016, he has been chief-editor of the french Quintessence International
    implantology journal, Titane.

    He was also a teaching assistant in Aesthetic Dentistry in the Dental department of
    Charles Foix Hospital, attached to the Paris V University.

  • Dr. Pablo García Cañas
    Dr. Pablo García Cañas

    Doctor Garcia received his dental degree from Complutense University in Madrid Spain, later he started working on his Phd in the same university, receiving a Master in dental Science.
    After practicing a couple of years as a general dentist, he moved to New York City to specialize in perio and implant dentistry. He did the advance program in periodontics at New York University and continue working in the department as a fellow. He also did the comprehensive implant program at Columbia University
    Later on, he moved back to his hometown Madrid, to work as a private practicioner and also as professor in the “Oral surgery, perio and implant dentistry Master” in the Mississippi University in Madrid
    He is author of scientific articles and lectures internationally

  • Dr. Luis Bessa
    Dr. Luis Bessa

    Dr Luis Bessa has graduated from ISCS-N (Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde do Norte) in 2008. Since surgery has always been his passion, he has continued his education in UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), receiving his degree of specialist in Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a postgrad title in Orthognathic Surgery .
    During his residence he had the opportunity to work in a hospital environment with all the other specialist in medicine which gave him a comprehensive understanding of general health and the body as an all.
    Education is also one of Dr Luis Bessa’s interests. Apart from participating as a speaker in several international conferences since 2012, he has been the head of the Maxillofacial Surgery course in the University Fernando Pessoa in 2013, and he is currently an invited professor for several Post graduate Implant programs at Portuguese and foreign universities .
    Dr Luis Bessa has been working in his own practice in Porto, NORTH CLINIC, Portugal as an Oral and Max. Fac. surgeon and have a strong focus on minimal invasive ridge reconstruction with autologous tissues as well as high-end aesthetic dentistry.
    He is strongly focused on a biological approach and on the aesthetic zone management.

  • Dr. Julien Mourlaas
    Dr. Julien Mourlaas

    Dr Julien Mourlaas graduated in 2012 from the Université Paris 5, France. He then get his training in the field of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry from New York University. After 2 years of residency he went back to Paris and limited his clinical practice to Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. He recently opened his own clinic in Paris. Furthermore, he works at Quintessence International as co-chief editor of the french journal “Titane”, is an international published author and lecturer and co-founder with Dr Benjamin Cortasse of “Paroplastic”, a famous french training institute in the field of mucogingival surgery and implantology.

    Dr. Ioannis Triantafyllou

    Graduated from Dental School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

    Since 1987 has his Dental Office in Rhodes, Greece

  • Dr. Eleftherios Kalimeras
    Dr. Eleftherios Kalimeras

    Dr. Eleftherios Kalimeras was born in Cyprus in 1974 and he is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He graduated from the Archbishop Makarios III Lyceum in Nicosia. Dr. Kalimeras is a graduate of the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2005 he received the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and in 2021 he obtained a master’s degree in Health Unit Management from the Open University of Cyprus. Dr. Kalimeras is the head of the Maxillofacial Surgery department of the ‘Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki’, director and shareholder of ‘Protome Dental & Facial Surgery clinic’ in Thessaloniki, associate doctor at the ‘Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus’ and associate doctor in other medical centres both in Cyprus and Greece. He is member of the Medical Associations of Thessaloniki and Famagusta as well as a member of various scientific societies. Additionally, Dr. Eleftherios Kalimeras is the President of the Cyprus Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Finally, Dr. Eleftherios Kalimeras speaks English and German.

  • Dr. Doros Picolos
    Dr. Doros Picolos

    He graduated from the Dental School of the University of Athens in 1999.
    He moved to New York for a three-year training at Columbia University (2001-2004) from where he obtained the title of Master in Oral Biology and the title of Specialty in Periodontology, with a parallel three-year training in Clinical Implantology.
    He attended a one-year postgraduate program (part-time) in Implantology (2007-2008). From 2013-2018, he was a scientific partner and training manager in his field
    Periodontology at the School of Dentistry Assistants of the Cyprus College.
    He is a trainer of the Swiss Dental Academy (SDA trainer).
    He is a regular member of the Hellenic Periodontological Society since 2005 and secretary of the Cyprus Periodontological Society. He was a member of scientific committees while at the same time he was a speaker at various conferences and workshops in Cyprus and abroad. He has presented his clinical and research papers at World, Pan American and State conferences in the USA. He was awarded for his work and performance both by the University of Athens (study and performance scholarship) and by Columbia University (performance scholarship – Melvin L. Morris Periodontal Award).
    His articles have been published in international journals.
    Since 2005, he has maintained a private practice with exclusive employment in Periodontology and Surgical Implantology and with a particular interest in the use of PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) platelet concentrates, growth factors, zero bone loss concepts and directed biomimetic management GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy).

    Dr. Dimitrios Kolovos

    Dr. Dimitrios Kolovos received his undergraduate degree in Dentistry (DDS) in 2013 from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2014, he was accepted for postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Prosthodontics, Dental School of Athens, Greece (MSc in Prosthodontics). Since 2019, he has been practicing dentistry limited to Prosthodontics and Implantology in Dental Wellness Athens clinic. He lectures nationally and Internatioanally, focusing mainly on digital protocols for the prosthetic and surgical rehabilitation of patients. He is a member of scientific societies, including the GreekProsthodontic Society (GRPROS), the European Prosthodontic Association (EPA) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). From 2022 he is alternate member of the board of directors of the Greek Prosthodontic Society (GRPROS).
