The revival of the Famagusta Orange Festival in Ayia Napa, organized by the Municipalities of Famagusta (in exile) και Ayia Napa (free Famagusta District), was an outstanding success.
The Orange Festival was abruptly discontinued after the illegal invasion by Turkey in 1974 και occupation of the 37% of Cyprus, including Famagusta City in its whole and the 87% of the Famagusta District since then. After almost 52 years the Orange Festival has been revived, something that showed that the Famagustians never forget.
With a highly impressive and moving event that took place on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at the Amphitheatre of the THALASSA Municipal Museum and which was jointly organized by the Municipality of Famagusta (in exile) and the Municipality of Ayia Napa (free Famagusta District), the historic Famagusta Orange Festival was revived, gathering a large crowd and bringing to life memories of another era. In a charged atmosphere where nostalgia met hope and history found a voice again, the occupied but unyielding Famagusta was highlighted through images and symbolism, confirming once again that it remains alive through its memory, culture and history.
Το Famagusta Dental Association was represented at this very special and important event for the occupied City of Famagusta by the President of the FDA, Dr. George E. Avraam.
The Famagusta Dental Association always supports all actions by any organizing Clubs, Association, or Municipalities that keep the memory of the “Ghost” City of Famagusta and the faith of return to our ancestral homes alive through the decades.
